This painting was inspired by a short episode of Hell's eighth circle ( forgers and counterfeiters). Dante and Virgile are confronted to a fight between two lost souls : as an heretic and alchimist Capocchio is bitten in the neck by Gianni Schicchi who would have usurped the identity of a dead man, in order to steal his inheritance. William Bougoureau's painting (1850) to introduce which is probably one of my greatest literary passions, the Gothic novel of the XIXe century ending, at the Victorian era. For over 35 years the Dracula of Bram Stoker has always been with me, inside of me. Since I'm invariably revolving around the figure of the Stoker's vampyre, so I decided to seize it in my own way.
